“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Rom 12:1-2).
Lord, we often think of worship as being our Sunday morning church attendance – literally – just sitting in church for the service, or sitting on our couch watching a televised service, we feel able to check off that box for the week.
But true worship engages our hearts, minds and spirit – our thoughts, actions, words – and not just Sunday morning, but 24/7. Help us to dig deeper, Lord. Help us to wake each morning with heart-felt intention of living out our day in obedience to your will, rejecting our worldly desires, choosing instead to humble ourselves before you, choosing Your way, not our own, when they conflict.
Lord, help us to make more room in our hearts for your Holy Spirit’s guidance and may our thoughts, speech and actions reflect a growing love and obedience to You.
Thank you, Lord, for loving us as you do. And we rejoice in anticipation of discovering your ultimate plan for us as we worship and serve you each day.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
