Regarding what it is like to have the indwelling presence of Christ in us:
“When we set our hearts in the direction of what we know to be God’s heart in the matter – and begin to model our behavior in that direction – the Spirit within immediately reinforces our finite strength with infinite strength. The synthesis is so smooth, it is sometimes impossible to tell where our strength ends and his begins.” *
We so often wonder, “Is God near? Does He know I need His help? Will He help?”
God’s presence and work can be so subtle. Have we missed it?
Could God have given us an extra ounce of energy today to complete the task – and we missed it?
Could God have given us His love today, for us to share with someone else – and we missed it?
Could God have given us a smidge of courage and strength today to accomplish what seemed too difficult – and we missed it, thinking it was ourselves, therefore not giving Him the credit?
Could God have put this reflection on my heart today for you and me to reflect on – for we have missed Him a lot lately?
Lord, thank you for the presence of Your indwelling Holy Spirit. Open the eyes of our hearts, Lord, so we can better see You. May we grow in awareness of Your presence and help. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
