“In you, Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me. Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go;” (Psalm 71:1-3).
This prayer was written before the coming of Christ, before Jesus came into the world to live, die and rise again. The Savior had not yet arrived and these verses are a plea for help that has not yet presented itself for the psalmist.
For followers of Christ, PRAISE GOD, our Lord and Savior has already done this for us! When we accept Jesus Christ, calling Him our Lord, He does save us and it is done! By His righteousness we are no longer covered in shame, he has rescued and delivered us from the hands of the evil one. He hears our pleas, our voice received in His ear and heart. He is our refuge to whom we can always go.
For those who have accepted Christ, these verses can be a request for current help but also a PRAISE! A PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING! A PRAYER OF REMEMBRANCE!
Thank you, Lord, for in You I take refuge. You erase my sin and shame. You have rescued and delivered me from the stronghold of evil. Your ears hear my voice and You are always with me.
For ALL those who have not yet accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior, this is what Christ offers you and THESE VERSES CAN BE READ AS AN INVITATION!
COME! YOU ARE INVITED!
HEAR OF CHRIST, JESUS.
ACCEPT HIM, HIS LOVE AND SALVATION.
HE OFFERS YOU ETERNAL REFUGE WITH HIM,
SAFE IN HIS ARMS, GUILT AND SHAME REMOVED,
CONSTANT HELP AND POWER BY HIS HOLY SPIRIT,
AND HE YOUR CONSTANT COMPANION!
For all those who have not yet accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior, please know this: God will not force you to be saved. And you will not suddenly discover yourself saved, with no decision made on your part. God created humanity with free will. You must choose.
Lord, thank you for all that You have done for us. You offer eternal life with You, freedom from sin and shame, and guidance from Your Holy Spirit. You lift the veil from our eyes and hearts, revealing to us a world in which blessings of love, kindness, generosity, and more, flow from giver to receiver; a world where the least is greatest, and it is beautiful and rich beyond our imaginations.
May ALL, everyone, come to know You as Savior and Lord and experience this new life you offer according to Your great love, mercy and grace. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
